We have PE on Tuesdays. The children will need to have suitable shoes for PE that can be kept in school. (They will not be changing into full PE kits due to Covid restrictions)

Topics

Our topic for this half term is 'All about me'. After the half term break our topic will be 'Light and Dark'.  We also try to include the children's interests so sometimes include mini topics on a particular theme.

Reading

This term we will bring home a 'Phonics and Reading' booklet with some ideas to help us learn to read. We will start to bring home reading books and word cards to learn. We have daily phonics sessions called 'Letters and Sounds'. During these sessions we learn to recognise  sounds (phonemes) and how to use them to help us to read and write.

Writing

This term we start to learn how to write the sounds that we are learning. We focus on writing our names and names of friends or other people in our family. We begin to write simple cvc words such as 'sun', 'cat' and 'hop', using the sounds that we have learnt. We also have a go at writing simple labels and lists.

Maths

This term we focus on recognising and ordering numbers to 5, matching and sorting objects, comparing amounts and making patterns. We also look at different ways of representing an amount or number.
