STEAM

STEAM ...Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics.

Have a look at some of the STEAM jobs our parents and carers do at our school.

Would you like to do one of these in the future?

Meet some of our parents and carers here...

Mr Besley...being a vet.

Mr Mallett...being an engineer

Some of our Year 5 and 6 Children had a great opportunity to take part in a Robotics Day at Chilton Primary School.

The children designed, made and tested out their robots in a Robot War!

We definitely have some future engineers in the making.

Class 5 and 6 were also lucky enough to be visited by a retired pilot. Who taught them the science involved to get a plane into the air. Class 5 then tested what they had learnt by making paper planes and flying them in the playground.

The children were also visited by a retired engineer, who creates robots, using lots of components depending on what he wants them to do.

The children then had the opportunity to use the robots, sorting colours, creating a show and using light to follow a line.

We have also been visited by STEM ambassador Sarah Jolliffe, a sustainability engineer who is also a world record holder for building KNEX models!

The children designed and built a crane in pairs. The design had to have a base and moving parts. They used lots of STEM skills such as creativity, perserverance and team work. Class 5 and 6 both had two winners. Their designs will be entered into a regional competition.
